A Welcoming Church in Newark
Church of Promise is a Newark based church meeting close to the centre of Newark, and gathers on Sunday mornings at 10.30am for our family worship and teaching meeting. Other events are held in venues around the town including Hawtonville, Balderton, Winthorpe Road and Yorke Drive. Church of Promise is also affiliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain.
Our worship style is informal, can be lively, but is first and foremost a space where we can draw near to God and give Him the glory though our praise and worship as well as our lives. Our church family has roots from a number of church traditions including Baptist, Anglican, Pentecostal, Evangelical and Brethren.
However Church of Promise is primarily a church based on the New Testament model, where the Holy Spirit is welcomed, and is not about buildings but is focused on people and the church family model. Our Basis of faith is modelled on the Evangelical Alliance www.eauk.org basis of faith. We are members of Churches Together in Newark and active in the Newark Foodbank, Open Kitchen and The Well which are initiatives setup and run by Churches Together in Newark in partnership with other local charities and supporters.
We also support the Chaplaincy both in the local hospital and Beaumond House Community Hospice
and provide meeting spaces for the local foster carers' group
, Age Concern, Reach and other local groups.
Our church family live in Newark and the surrounding area and we love to serve the people of Newark in the way Jesus would have if He lived here. We hold or support various activities in the local community throughout the year.
